Hi, I'm Priscilla
The only thing I hate more than posing for photos is training in a way that makes me feel...well, pretty yucky. I was told a lot of lies: you need to show him who's boss, you need to get after her, you have to yank and spank....you get the idea.
I was told these lies by well meaning folks. Folks who learned their methods of horsemanship with the best of intentions.
But following their advice, and doing what they told me went against what felt right to me. My horses became compliant yet resentful, obedient yet disconnected. I got results, but that didn't matter to me as much as enjoying my time with my horses.
If you're like me, the way your horse feels through the process has more value than the result.
Results of course matter, we need horses to be comfortable in our world, but the results are not the point. The point is the relationship, the clarity of the communication we use, and the way we motivate needs to be in the horses best interest. The paradox is that we get better cooperation with a better relationship...and, you guessed it, better results.
Beyond my love for horses, I love to teach people. It has been my life's work and passion to help people truly connect with their horses.
The goal of Highland Bluff Equine is to make positive reinforcement training strategies accessible. That means creating positive reinforcement solutions that can be accessed from anywhere, and the Courses are where it all begins! I hope to see you there!
